Both compiler and interpreter are used to test the code based on the language-specific rules and execute the code.

 

In simple words, the difference is that a compiler will run the whole of the code in one go and show you the errors, on the other hand, an interpreter will not run the next line of code until the current line is error-free.

 

For example:

In the above C code, x and y both are not defined. So a compiler will execute the whole code, whereas an interpreter will not run "cin>>y;" until the error at "cin>>x;" is resolved.

 

Same thing can be explained using python code as:

In the above code, "x=10;" has an error as the semicolon is not used in python. So, if we execute it using an interpreter, it will not execute "print(math.exp(x))", until the semicolon is removed.
