I don't really like this new feature on C# Corner where articles are ranked Beginner, Intermediate, etc.

One of the reasons I write articles is for career advancement. I have links to my articles on my resume. Potential clients click on these and look at my articles.

So now on some of my articles you've put a bold green declaration that this is a BEGINNER article. That's a problem for me. I'm trying to look good to potential customers, and some of my articles are getting ranked BEGINNER.

And some articles, not just mine, really aren't beginner articles. Just because an article explains how to do something doesn't make it a beginner article. It may be an introductory article, but (for example) beginners are not configuring WCF for reliable messaging.

So I would suggest either getting rid of the whole Beginner, Intermediate thing altogether or at least using a different word instead of BEGINNER. Maybe TUTORIAL.

I'm agree with Sam and Mahesh. I proudly state myself "I post mostly for Beginners" as Sam said. What it means? It means my post is for beginner audience, i'm not beginner or author is not beginner.

I agree with sam. I always look for usefulness of an article than what category it belongs to. Also most of the articles on latest technologies are for beginners for that technology but they may be advanced for a student.

I know that there is definitely one author that is very clear in stating that his articles is for beginners.

Note that the beginner clasification is not intended to say that the author is a beginner; it is intended to say that the audience is beginners.

Also note that it is not easy to write a good article that is clear for beginners. People try it, but it is not easy for everyone to do. Many employers will grab you up fast if they can be confident you can communicate effectively and patiently with beginners and other non-technical people.

As for the problem of articles defaulting to beginner, perhaps there should be an "unspecified" category that is the default for existing articles.

Also, and this is getting off-topic, when I look at the tutorials in this web site, the titles for many of them imply that they are not beginner-level. Is it supposed to be that way? Well, I guess I should create a new thread for that.

If you look at Article Publishing Wizard, there is a drop down for Comlexity Level. Do you see that?

Hi Mahesh,
I couldn't find any option where I can choose the categories/Levels while submitting article.It will be good while submitting the article we can get the option to select the category.

Fixed. If you feel, your article belongs to some other category, you can always go and edit them :)

I see your point. Actually, this was one of the key features that was asked at the MVP summit to separate some basic articles with advanced. I guess, we just need to come up with better wording.

OK, thanks for looking at mine.

Still, I think you should avoid any kind of ranking that might cast any author in a negative light. I can't imagince any author being happy having a BEGINNER tag on their article. Maybe some different word could be used other than BEGINNER. Maybe INTRODUCTORY or TUTORIAL could be used instead. Or maybe someone could come up with some other word.

Andrew, I forgot to mention, the article level is displayed when you submit a new article. Do not forget to pick the right level for your article for new articles.

I agree. Your articles are not beginner. I think by default, if you do not pick anything, it is set as Beginner. We will fix this in the system for your articles.

But this raises a good question. Let's see what can be done here! How we can fix some articles that are not beginner and displays beginner.
