Best Method to get data from SQL

When using the word "best" in this context, it is best to define what you mean by it. Note that except for saying that you use the SQLClient, you don't even specify what type of database. You don't specify whether it is an interactive or a batch environment and/or how many rows are updated or how frquently there are updates and if you need to allow other applications to access the database, either read-only or for simultaneous updates.
