By next step are you maybe referring to some advance web development?
I presume you have completed some basic tutorial and are looking to learn more, right?
If I'm right then I would say that the best thing that you can do is try creating some ASP.NET MVC application. After that find some book with good reviews and read it through. After that go back to your application and try to find what you could have written better. This approach really worked for me.

Is is one of the well known tutorials on this subject.
Also I would advice you to try out some HTML, CSS and JS coding tests, after all they are they are a basics which are required from you in order to work with MVC.
