add a new node to xml data

Hi All,

My xml file is like this:

Tove

Jani

Tove1

Jani1

Tove2

Jani2

I want to add a new node (ok) to where ID= 2

my xpath is: note/step[ID='2']/to/

final result should be like this in xml file:

Tove1

Jani1

you can open same post in two tab and checked the correct answer. try it (not 100% sure). otherwise it is ok

Using my LINQ to XML approach, that would be:

XElement note = XElement.Load("darma_teja.xml");

foreach(XElement to1 in to1s) to1.AddAfterSelf(new XElement("check", "ok"));
note.Save("darma_teja.xml");

if you have more than two node with same id, then how you will recognize that where you need to insert it.

Here's an alternative solution using LINQ to XML:

using System;
using System.Linq;
using System.Xml.Linq;

class Program

XElement note = XElement.Load("darma_teja.xml");
XElement to1 = (from xe in note.Elements("step") where (string)xe.Attribute("ID") ==

"2" select xe.Element("to").Element("to1")).First();
to1.AddAfterSelf(new XElement("check", "ok"));
note.Save("darma_teja.xml");
}
}

Notice that your XML file isn't well formed because the start tags don't have corresponding end tags. If we correct for that the XML file now looks like this before the new node is added:

Tove
Jani

Tove1
Jani1

Tove2
Jani2
