User Experience is changing rapidly with the time and advancements in technologies. For better user exp one need to keep himself updated with the current and upcoming plugins and technologies. There are many JQuery plugins available in market for better user exp. Just go through some of those and keep yourself updated with what user wants.
For example a few years back every website used to have a long form to fill for signup but now a days most of webs use facebook, gmail or other integrated logins because users hate filling up forms.

There are various technologies as in SharePoint , Lotus Notes which provides a user friendly platform to the users.
You can too build Java and .net platforms for it too.
