By default if you click on Split, it split the designer view and code horizontally. For split it vertically, we have to do some settings.
Select Tools -> Options -> Html Designer
And in General Tab check the “Split View Vertically” Checkbox like that
Now when you click on Split you will get code and designer view vertically.

This feature is really useful on a wide screen. How about multi-screen?
