Set Up A Free Microsoft 365 Developer Program Account To Learn PowerApps

Introduction

This article is for all those who want to learn the full potential of PowerApps but are not able to do so because of the restrictive nature of M365 work accounts in our organizations. This article will show you how to set up a Microsoft 365 Developer Program Account for Free and learn how to build things on top of the M365 developer account using PowerApps.

This setup involves 3 main steps:

Set up a Microsoft 365 Developer Program Account for free
Create M365 Tenant by setting up M365 E5 Developer Subscription (Organizational or Work Account)
Add a PowerApps Community Plan to your M365 Tenant

Set up a Microsoft 365 Developer Program Account for Free

Open the browser of your choice and open it here.
Click on Join Now
Sign-in using Microsoft Account you already have else
Sign up to create a new account

Click Create one

Use existing email
Use phone number
Get a new email address

Email will be on outlook.com
Click Next
Create a password and click next
Give Country and Birthday
Solve a puzzle to prove you are not a robot
Complete profile by visiting here.
Use this email address to sign-in using 1.3

Create M365 Tenant by setting up M365 E5 Developer Subscription (Organizational or Work Account)

Login here using your Microsoft account
Follow 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 to sign in to your M365 Developer Account
Click on Setup E5 Subscription
Enter the details requested in the form:

Enter Country
Enter Username
Enter Unique Domain name
Create Password
Confirm Password and then click "Tab" and Continue

Add phone number for security:

Select Country
Enter a Phone number and send Code
Enter code you received on your phone as a text message

You are now logged into M365 Profile to see all M365 Developer subscriptions

Add PowerApps Community Plan to your M365 Tenant

Login here using your Microsoft account and not Organizational or work account
Click "Go To Subscription" link (screenshot) and you will be navigated to the office come home page of your tenant
Open a new tab in the browser and open aka.ms/PACommPlan
Click on "Create an individual environment"
Enter your "Country" name and click Accept
PowerApps homepage is now loaded
