While I agree that you would have to use the VisualBasic (VB) namespace, I figure if you are in VB.NET you do not mind using some of the (VB) functions. Sometimes re-inventing the wheel is just not necessary. If you are not going to need any other (VB) derived functions then of course, using your snippet of code above is a great way to do what you want. However, if you are using other (VB) derived function then you might want to just let the FormatDateTime function be the primary without adding more code to the final compilation.
